Was there anything you didn’t like?
Wish the songs and chants were more coordinated
I thought it was a great event
One guy in traffic that made a gun gesture at us protesters
My ole lady mouth like to curse, sorry not sorry.
Trump train and the amount of police presence.
Being spread out seemed stupid. No community built that way.
It was too spread out. It didn’t give a good representation of the actual number of people present.
The folks that took to the street causing the police to need to shut down traffic
MAGA 😎
Not enough other people joining the street march
People encouraging walking in the streets
I think we should be one long group of protesters at the same time. It makes more of an impact than several groups strung out in several different locations.
When the ReSisters got on Battlefield road. It didn't seem like the appropriate event for civil disobedience. I had someone new to protesting with me (as I'm sure a lot of people did) and it changed the atmosphere from joyful to stressful very quickly. My understanding is that No Kings is about joyful resistance and bringing in new people to connect them with local organizations. Having someone screaming in a cop's face didn't feel joyful or helpful to fight the lies about protests being "dangerous" and "hateful" like the right wing media likes to portray it.
When a Trump truck drove by as close to the curbs to push us back.
Confusion over main protest location, division btw groups causing fragmentation
Why did you participate?
Because saving our country is important and I knew that it's really important to show up.
Those that are able should & it encourages those more timid to start showing up.
To support others in the community, show up, speak up and bring awareness to the harm this regime is causing to our nation.
Trump is not king. We should not treat him as such.
Trump is a pedo liar turd
Tired of this regime and their antics I hate djt
To make it clear that I am vehemently opposed to the Trump administration and the direction they are taking this country.
If not me, Who ? You must stand or you will kneel.
Because we need to keep letting the administration and our Missouri legislators know we exist and have numbers & to collect Respect MO Voters signatures
I am compelled to act to save our democracy
Sick of corruption, genocide, tyranny and child rape. We should be blocking freeways and probably even burning things down.
This is the least I could do/we should be doing
Trump is a disaster and doing great damage to our country.
Defunding ICE, authoritarianism, etc.
To fight for democracy
I oppose everything this regime is doing Trump is destroying our country
We can't let our country be destroyed by this corrupt administration. I want my grandson to know that I was on the right side of history.
To make sure this was the largest protest in American history and get the attention of our leaders who are IGNORING the will of the people!
For joyful resistance and to spread the word about Resistance Choir.
I feel the need to show up in protest.
Too many reasons to fit on this line.
Is there anything you would like more information about? (Groups, Events, Etc)?
I wish that we had a rally
Thank you to everyone for helping to make this event a success. We learn, we grow, we initiate change.
Our local organizers have worked hard and I hope they receive recognition.
Thank you :)
Impressed with the number of people but would like to see us not so spread out the next time around. That seemed to make it look smaller than it was.
Where were the organizers? Seemed to be nobody in charge except with pushing out info on social media pages. Normally you can find someone in charge to speak with. I seen two safety people but they didn’t have answers to my questions.
Everyone in our group was so warm and welcoming and positive took their roles of the day seriously. We were there on a mission and at the same time is was just FUN!! The people that filled the streets in their cars to show their support was amazing !
Thanks for all your efforts
I am glad to know the organizers ❤️
Thanks for making no kings happen in Springfield
Thank you to all the organizers who work so hard to keep Springfield in the know.
Thanks to the volunteers that kept us safe. We had a young man that walked with us whenever we had to cross Battlefield. Thanks to CT417 for texting us information about events for the week!
Only that I really appreciate those of you who work to organize locally.
Answers to some of the above comments and questions…
Springfield is a difficult place to have large protests when you take into consideration these 3 things - Parking, Visibility & Gathering Space. Two of those are available downtown at the square however visibility is an issue. The two that were available on Battlefield were parking and visibility and that is why we chose that location.
Our ask to the community was to stay on the south side of the street and spread out, that way we would have less gaps, more visibility for both the participants and drivers and our Safety Team could respond more quickly by staying on the same side of the street. That was successful through most of the route except around the mall area. Also, we had no idea exactly how many people would join us, so having enough space was important.
Every organizer was present on the line that day, throughout the entire route. We had over 40 volunteers and we had a canopy in front of Planned Parenthood. We had walkie talkies and an alternative way to communicate. However we will take a suggestion to have one main phone number that could be given out to participants during the event for immediate questions.
Stand & wave vs street marching. This was discussed multiple times in the planning of the event. And from input above you can see that there were people that didn’t like it or loved it. This was a difficult decision but for safety purposes the majority of the group chose a “stand & wave” event. I hear there is an upcoming event that will include marching for MAYDAY.
The Committee appreciates all the input and comments. Planning volunteers are always needed, please reach out to the planning groups of upcoming events to jump in to help, I am sure they would appreciate it! Thank you so very much for taking the time to let us know your thoughts.
