June 14th - Springfield PRIDE Parade Participation

For the nationwide “No Kings” mass mobilization everyone is invited to join us as we walk together in the annual OZARKS PRIDEFEST PARADE !

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO WALK IN THE PARADE TOGETHER

OZARKS PRIDEFEST ANNUAL EVENT

The Annual Ozarks Pridefest is held each year on the second Saturday of June. This year the next nationwide mass mobilization was scheduled for the same day!

PRIDE is a special event that the celebrates the LGBTQIA+ communities existence despite the governments attempts to erase it. Many of the legislators both here in Missouri but also in Washington are actively changing laws to take rights away from our LGBTQIA+ community and many of our military members & veterans.

They have chosen “Homecoming” as the theme this year: “Our Homecoming is about finding connection in a world that so often tries to keep us isolated. It’s about standing firm in who we are, celebrating the beauty of being unapologetically ourselves and honoring the people who’ve worked to make Springfield a safe and welcoming home for us all. From the allies who stood beside us and the trailblazers who paved the way, this Pride is for them, for you, and for all of us.”

We have this amazing opportunity, on this national day of protests to celebrate, honor and show them our love.

Springfield is a place where our love, our strength, and our voices create a community that can't be ignored.

We join to celebrate Pride, not disrupt it.

Flag Day

On June 14th, 1777 the Continental Congress officially adopted the design of the Stars and Stripes our AMERICAN FLAG. Over the past few years there have been people that have tried to claim the flags as theirs. We say NO! This is OUR COUNTRY and we will wave the flag, proud of the diversity of our beautiful country.

On June 14, 1775, more than a year before the Declaration of Independence — the U.S. Army was officially established. In the past 250 years it has played a vital role in the growth and development of the American nation. It is our own family members and friends that have fought and died for our the freedom.

250th Anniversary of US Army

This “wannabe king” is spending millions of dollars celebrating himself while putting tens of thousands of veterans out of jobs and cutting much needed services and care for our military.

Please join us as we walk beside our community veterans and military to say NO - we rejected Monarchy in 1776 and won.

We will win again!

Birthday Parade

  • PARADE LINE up starts at 10:45 am - Please look for the group… because our group is going to be so large we will be at the end of the parade.

  • Start line is at Springfield Municipal Court Parking Lot at 625 N Benton Ave / Chestnut

  • The parade route is about 1.25 miles, a slow walk and ending at the Downtown Square

  • Parking can be tricky please plan ahead. Park near the square and walk to the start line OR park in the lot at the start line and walk back to your car when done at the square.

  • Wheelchairs can be arranged for those that need them. Please email communitytogether417@gmail.com to make arrangements.

  • SIGNS are allowed! Due to the theme and family friendly event we are asking for YOUTH FRIENDLY AND POSSITIVE MESSAGING. Before I say what SIGNS NOT TO BRING please know that we respect the first amendment however we also need to be sure to keep the messaging respectful and appropriate. In certain circumstances ONE controversial sign could turn away a person and we want to be sure to be INCLUSIVE for this event.

    SIGN MESSAGING SUGGESTIONS:

    • “WE THE PEOPLE MEANS EVERYONE”

    • “WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER”

    • “DIVERSITY MAKES THE WORLD BEUTIFUL”

    • “IMPEACH, REMOVE, CONVICT”

    • “WE DON’T DO KINGS IN AMERICA”

    • “I MARCH SO MY GRANDCHILDREN DON’T HAVE TO”

    • “WE THE PEOPLE, NOT WE THE BILLIONAIRES”

    • “DEMOCRACY OVER DICTATORSHIP”

    • '‘READ & DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION”

    • “PEOPLE OVER POWER”

SIGN MESSAGING we ask NOT to be in the parade:

    • Anything using the word “n*zi” or using the symbol. YES we do NOT support nor want this regime, however during the parade we don’t want this messaging.

    • Upside down flags - due to respect for the veterans on this day we will be carrying many flags. Please know we understand that upside down flags mean “distress” however some veterans get very upset about them. So out of respect on this day we ask for no upside down flags.

    • 8647 - Yep… “getting rid of” is the actual meaning, however it’s been turned into something more. To avoid any negative messaging for this event please refrain from this message on the signs.

  • DRESS UP in a homecoming outfit to celebrate and embrace the theme. Those that are dressed up will lead our group. The pride theme is homecoming and our chosen theme color for the group is purple.

  • PURPLE Bandanas will be given to every participant - purple because it’s not blue or red anymore AND because is the “royal” color. Wear them anyway you would like.
