May Day - International Workers Day

Today is usually a day to remind us of the bravery, courage and determination of the workers of the world that rallied together on May 1st, 1886 in Chicago where their slogan was “Workers of the world unite, you’ve got nothing to lose by your chains and the world to gain!” But this year is difference because 47 is working to eradicate DEIA initiatives and civil right protections that would reverse DECADES of federal anti-discrimination policies.

Today both Missouri Jobs with Justice and 50501 Missouri joined together in collaboration with many other groups to say “Worker’s First: Stand Up, Springfield”. Hundreds of people gathered at the downtown square. The speakers were amazing and finally the weather cooperated!

Also today the Mayday Movement USA began this “occupation” at the National Mall in Washington, DC. This group has a 4 month permit and will be rotating people in and out as they can join. The intention is to continue this until 47 is impeached! Please go to the events page to learn more about this and get in touch with our local coordinator. I plan to go early June for a couple days, what might you be able to do?
