Guest Speaker: Jess Piper

April 21st, in person meeting as well as zoom for the community. This was our first Leaders meeting and we had 10 different group presentations from their leadership. They told us about their mission, what they do, accomplishments and how to get involved. All groups are listed on the website!!

Then we were joined by Jess Piper, a rural Missourian who is a Writer, a Speaker and an Activist. She is the real deal, willing to speak up and the “True Dirt Road Democrat”

Protect Your Neighbors

April 27th - Multiple college groups have organized to protest the current administrations attack on our international and immigrant communities on campus in the the city. Demanding that the local university and city council defend our community!

We met in the downtown square. About 70 people gathered with their signs, young and old to fight for the rights of our local immigrants. Then the group marched from the square to the old courthouse and back!

May 1st - May Day worldwide! Across the country—from fruit fields in California to classrooms in Chicago, from kitchens in Queens to loading docks in Atlanta and right here in Springfield, Missouri—working people are rising up. We are demanding a country that puts our families over their fortunes—public schools over private profits, healthcare over hedge funds, housing over homelessness. STOP THE BILLIONAIRE TAKEOVER. WE ARE THE MANY. THEY ARE THE FEW. THIS IS MAY DAY. JOIN US!

Guest Speaker: Will Westmoreland

May 12th, we had our second Leader & Community Meeting. Our groups were Respect Missouri Voters, Greater Springfield Indivisible and Mayday Movement USA. We learned more about each group and how the community could get involved. All groups are listed on the website!!

Then we were joined by Will Westmoreland. He is a rural campaign and elections expert! A Farmer, a Dad and a Grandfather. His passion has led him to THE BACK FORTY A movement to revitalize rural America.
